10 POINT LODGE - NOVEMBER 2002

The new retreat sure looks good!

Even if a few steps are still to be finished...

A wood furnace and hydro are scheduled to be installed any day now, but until then, we have to use temporary heaters to warm the air and, if food needs baking, drive it to the old propane oven in the 'trailer on the ridge' to be cooked.

The short days, with the sun never rising very high into the sky, provided remarkable sunsets and dusks over the lake.

I had to leave the day before deer hunting season, but since Peter was staying, we needed to re-calibrate some of the rifles, scopes and shotguns, testing rifle accuracy and pellet spreads on newspaper targets.

This is my more remote backwoods home, courtesy of landowner Diana, where I often stay during deer hunting season. I rode in to pick up my chainsaw. I needed to bring it back to the city where I plan to use it, with Ed's help, to cut down a dead cherry tree in my backyard. Look for that adventure coming to these pages later this year!

Ice can be beautiful!
